Power of Prayer

Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the food we eat,
Thank you for the birds that sing,
Thank you God for everything.

“Prayer lays hold of God’s plan and becomes the link between His will and its accomplishment on earth. (!!!!!)  Amazing things happen, and we are given the privilege of being the channels of the Holy Spirit’s prayer.”

-Elisabeth Elliot

Prayer is the act of communicating with god. It creates an intimate connection between us and loving heavenly father. Prayer is just like talking with our best friend whom we share everything. We pray to god for many reasons; to show our gratitude towards god, for the safety of our beloved ones, for the peace and happiness in the life, for the need of confidence and strength that helps us to face harsh situations of life, for the assistant in taking correct decision, to eliminate mental stress or to confess our mistakes.

Every religion describes the significance of prayer and defines their own way of prayer, but the main theme is same in every one that is communication with god. All religion says that we should pray with full spirit, complete faith, without worries and focus only on god while praying. Benjamin Franklin said a very impressive statement on how we should pray “Work as if you were to live a hundred years, pray as if you were to die tomorrow.”

How prayer does impact our life? Prayer plays main role in the climax of many Indian movies. “Maine aaj tak tujhse kuchh nahi manga” is the common dialog of Indian movies. But the question is that whether god gives us those things in reality that we ask in our prayer? “Isse Dawa ki nahi Duaao ki jaroorat he?” Does DUA matters?

Let’s explore the definition of prayer once again. Prayer means communication with god and god is present everywhere “Ram tere man me he, Ram mere man me he” i.e. when we communicate with god, we are communicating with our self. When someone says “Itni shakti hame dena data” means believe in strengths present in himself. When someone prays, “Hey god! I know I have the capability to do this task, just be with me so that everything will be fine”, it shows that he believes on his capability and, by praying he wants moral support. After payer, he thinks that god supports him. This thinking keeps his moral and confidence high. A famous book on positive thinking says that, if we think on our positive sides and says our self “I can do this thing”, it boosts our confidence and keep our moral high. Prayer does the same thing for us; it gives us moral support that strengthens belief on our skills.

Wise man says “Self is the best friend of self”. Prayer gives a chance to see in our self. When we close our eyes and concentrate our mind and heart only on god, we are facing our self and we can’t hide anything with our self. This is the moment when we can look into our mistakes; we can say sorry for the behavior or incidence that hurts our beloved’s hearts. This confession fills our heart with peace and gives us new energy that helps us to correct the mistakes and win the heart of beloved once again. Charles Stanley explained it beautifully We can be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.”

Prayer creates new hopes in life. When someone prays “Hey god! Please solve this problem”; it means that he hopes that problem will be solved and he needs god’s assistant to solve the problem. This hope gives him a new way to look at the problem and finally he gets the solution.

Prayer strengthens the determination. When a person prays “Hey god! Give me strength so that I can achieve my destiny”; it refreshes the picture of his destiny in mind. That refreshment makes his determination too strong; as George W. Bush said “Prayer has comforted us in sorrow and will help strengthen us for the journey ahead.

Prayer is extremely helpful in tough conditions as it increases a person’s patience, keeps his mind stable, boosts the confidence level and gives him strength to face the unpleasant situations of life. Oswald Chambers said “When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message……………………………….”

One side we have seen that prayer brings new energy in our life, other side of the prayer is that it removes negative aspects. When a person prays “thanks god for the success I got”; he dedicates his work to god and thinks god is responsible for the success. It saves him to be arrogant and overconfident and, makes his nature simple, polite and humble. When we pray for someone, it removes jealous feeling and fills our heart with the feeling of love, affection and joy.

Does prayer change the fortune of a person? When I pray, “Hey god! Please recover my friend from this tremendous disaster” does it really help my friend? A very beautiful statement given by wise man “The greatest gift we can give to others is our prayers”. Miracle can happen if we pray with pure heart, full dedication, deep feelings and strong will power. Our elders always say about “Buzurgo ki duaaye”; these are the blessings of our parents and other elder people. These “Buzurgo ki duaaye” helps us throughout our life. It acts as a ray of light in a dark night that guides us towards our destination. Our prayer for someone can change other’s fortune or make their destiny, it all depends on our dedication, faith, devotion and love for him. Just try this mantra; pray for everybody with pure heart, complete faith, strong feeling, full devotion and lots of love, and see how our DUA act as DAWA for others.

Recently I watched a movie in which a beggar shows mirror to everyone, by this the director conveyed a very beautiful message that rather than pointing to others, just look into yourself and see are we really perfect ? If not, then first overcome from it. Prayer provides us a chance to see our self in our own mirror. It boost up our confidence when we think we are about to lose, it give us patience when nothing happens in our favor, it strengthens our determination when we think that we are out of the track, it provides a new way to look at the problem when we think there’s no hope, it saves us to be arrogant and overconfident when we get everything what we want in life and last but not the least, prayer can become the fortune of our beloved ones and keep them safe and healthy.

So don’t think whether prayer matters or not; just pray to whichever god you believe in, for yourself, your beloved ones, and for the entire humanity with full faith, complete dedication and deep emotions. It really matters………………………………………..
